I'm David J. Conlon, preferably called Dave, and I was raised in Norwell, MA, which is a rural suburb approximately 30 miles southeast of Boston along the shoreline. I am a graduate of the University of Virginia with a B.A. in English Literature.
A brief overview of my work experience (detailed on my resume) involves my work with the MIT Home Page Team as well as a key member of the marketing/communications team for MIT’s Department of Facilities Capital Projects Group, now known as DDEC. Through this I have had experience with various web and print development software, and enhanced expertise with information organization, design, and presentation.
I also worked for many years in various positions at a local YMCA. My last postition there I was employed as a weekend manager of the 20,000+ member facility. I particularly enjoyed working for the Y as I got to see first-hand how such a fantastic non-profit organization can contribute to and improve a community. Unfortuately I decided that it was time for more schooling, and began preparations for a Masters degree, and thus after more than 11 years with such a great organization, I left to continue my studies.
In my free time, I enjoy amateur photography, some of which can be viewd on my online portfolio. It is difficult to maintain photography as a true hobby with the rather gray winters we experience in Massachusetts. Snow can be beautiful to photograph. Gray skies…not so much (at least in my opinion). But the beauty of the other three seasons tend to balance this dreariness with a vibrany of colors.
I enjoy most outdoor activities including hiking, camping, kayaking, roller-blading, and mountain biking, and look forward to the fair-weather months during which these activities are the most enjoyable!
